There is a particular ease to the coffee we reach for in summer. Nothing about it hurries. Bright cups for long light, something cold for the middle of the day, and always the same quiet ritual holding the season together.
This season's rotation was built around that ease. Hero Snow carries the mornings, smooth and steady. Kazahana opens the cup with pear, jasmine and strawberry, light enough for the heat. And for the middle of the day, when the sun is highest and the porch is the only place worth being, there is Stillwater Cold Brew, smooth chocolate and toffee over ice, slow-extracted for exactly this kind of afternoon.
Stillwater is a fixture in The Society and The Summit this season, and it is our favorite way to slow a summer afternoon down.
A simple way to enjoy it, if you are looking for one:
Fill a glass with ice. Pour four ounces of chilled tonic water. Add three ounces of Stillwater Cold Brew, poured slowly so it settles rather than mixes. Finish with a splash of cream and a twist of orange peel.
The tonic keeps it bright. The cream rounds it out. The orange lifts the whole glass. Best enjoyed slowly, somewhere with a view of the water.
